Since I’m unemployed and bored I’m revamping and re-doing all of my other blogs, you can find them here:

So I graduated from college last Saturday,  I turned 22 the weekend before.

I don’t really know or understand how I’m supposed to coordinate what happens next. They don’t teach you HOW to go out and physically get a job quickly and without a lot of worn out nerves. I’ve been scouring Craigslist and various job finding sites for days to little or no avail. I’ve filled out applications online, I’ve submitted countless resumes and cover letters but I’ve heard nothing back, literally nothing.

What’s next!

Matilda was left alone. That was how she liked it.

I always tried to make pancakes like this when I was about her age, I failed.

As mentioned before I loooove going to the local indie theater. Part of that enjoyment is the clientele which usually includes everyone in attendance being at least 20 years older than me. This film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, was no different and perhaps the age gap increased because of the type of film. It was also the only film I’ve ever been to there that was sold out and I had to sit in the front row (good thing my neck is so young and flexible).

I love the Harry Potter and the James Bond series of films so I was excited to see some of my old favorites (no pun intended) like Judi Dench, Billy Nighy, and Maggie Smith in this movie. I think the appeal to such a large audience for this film was that it focuses on getting older but not on some of the negativity surrounding aging. All of the actors in the film appear unchanged by drastic plastic surgery or crazy amounts of special effects make-up, they appear, umm old. I loved this movie not because it was funny and bright and set in India but because it showed the alternatives to retiring and sitting at home. Judi Dench’s character in particular was incredible in her adventurous spirit and zeal for trying new things. It was inspiring and I ran home to tell all of my old people friends to run out and see it. Not only that but I think that young people, like me, can benefit from seeing people old enough to perhaps be our grandparents being so independent and full of life.

So in an effort to keep better track of things I will be trying to post about every NEW movie I see - this means Netflix rentals as well as what I see in theaters. Over the past year I’ve started going to more and more films at the local indie theater. I’ve relished in the fact that they show films that no one else in town shows and the fact that the theater is about 12x nicer than the rest of the theaters in town.

My problem is that I’ve seen dozens of films but I don’t remember which ones exactly and when I saw them. In the last calendar year I’ve seen these movies in theaters:

  • Midnight in Paris
  • My Week with Marilyn
  • The Artist
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
  • Drive
  • Shame
  • Pariah
  • Friends with Kids
  • We Need to Talk about Kevin
  • Undefeated
  • Jiro Dreams of Sushi
  • Damsels in Distress
  • Bully
  • The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
These were from Netflix:
  • The Hours
  • Animal Kingdom
  • Coco Before Chanel
  • Temple Grandin
  • You Don’t Know Jack
  • Just Wright
  • Citizen Kane
  • Feast of Love
  • Taking Chance
  • Crazy, Stupid, Love
  • 50/50
  • Young Adult
  • Welcome to the Dollhouse
  • X-Men First Class
  • Restless
  • Like Crazy
  • Hanna
  • Post Grad
  • Martha Marcy May Marlene
  • The Ides of March
  • Warrior
  • The Descendants
  • Thinking XXX
  • The Mechanic
  • The Notorious Bettie Page
  • La Vie en Rose

Summer is quickly approaching, all last summer was spent working and reading on this raggedy ann sheet in my boyfriend’s backyard. I have absolutely no idea what this summer will hold, I will be 22 and graduated from college. At this point I have no plans, no ambitions, no goals, and no desires as far as my post-graduation life and that might need to change here soon in order to make some progress in life. It’s just a tad overwhelming considering being done with school after 18 years of solid school/summer/school rotations.
